Grimeborn Opera Festival

The Arcola Theatre's alt-opera festival Grimeborn returns for its fifteenth year in 2022 and it’s as eclectic as ever, from a radical anti-imperialist take on Gilbert & Sullivan’s ‘HMS Pinafore’ (Aug 23-27) to Japanese sign language opera ‘Sumida River’ (Sep 4). Away from the Arcola itself at the larger Hackney Empire and you can catch the concluding two halves of Wagner’s Ring Cycle, ‘Siegfried’ and ‘Götterdämmerung’ (Aug 6 and 7) in Graham Vick’s and Jonathan Dove’s ‘innovative reduction’.
