Dazzling virtuoso pianist Simcock draws on jazz and classical influences, and is known for his sterling sideman work with Bill Bruford and Tim Garland and more recently as a fully-fledged solo artist. Here he launches his new album 'Instrumation' (ACT), which includes a major new piece for orchestra and quintet. Expect displays of the full range of his abilities, driven by his percussive, Corea-esque sense of rhythm and his extraordinary stylistic range. A fellow ACT artist, French baritone saxophonist Bonacina, also performs.
