An all-day celebration to mark the 40th anniversary of the west-Cornwall based workshop: IMS Prussia Cove. At 11.30am there is a cello masterclass with Steven Isserlis, IMS Prussia Cove's Artistic Director. This is followed, at 1pm, by a lunchtime concert featuring Beethoven's Duet in E flat, Wo0 32 ('Augengläsern'); Christian Elliott's Amulet for string sextet (world première); and Mendelssohn's Octet in E flat, Op 20. At 3pm there is a panel discussion with pianist András Schiff, cellist David Waterman and composer Sally Beamish exploring topics around the work of IMS PRussia Cove and its significance for classical music training. At 4.15pm there is a string quartet masterclass with David Waterman, followed, at 5.15pm, by a piano masterclass with András Schiff. The day rounds off with an evening concert, at 7.30pm, featuring Mozart's String Quintet in G minor, K516; Bartók's Contrasts for violin, clarinet and piano, No 116; and Schumann's Piano Quintet in E flat, Op 44.
