James Blake

The Mercury-nominated post-dubstep producer from Deptford returns to live action in possession of new material: ‘The Colour in Anything’, another album of moody, glitchily layered loops, jazzy piano chords and soulful, treated vocals, this time with Frank Ocean lending a hand with the songwriting.

I booked the ticket to James Blake's concert a couple of months ago and I would catch myself counting down the days since then. My excitement got bigger when I met my friends at the Hammersmith Apollo last night and entered this beautiful venue. After Mark Pritchard's magical warm up James and his two band members came on stage to give the crowd a bigger than love spectacle. All the hits from his latest 'The Colour in Anything' album to previous famous tunes that made girls -and boys- screaming 'we love you James'. Towards the end I turned to my friend Jason with his head down and i asked him 'are you tired?. 'No', he said, 'that is the most mesmerising music ever'. Go see James Blake, people. Your eyes, mind and soul will thank you for that.
