Brooklyn-based, Panamanian-born singer James is heavily influenced by the legacy of Gil Scott-Heron, blending soul, jazz, funk and hip hop with a magnificently sensual voice. He used to be signed to Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings, but his last album 'No Beginning No End' came out on an even more illustrious label: Blue Note.
