Kelly Joe Phelps

Swapping his trademark slide guitar for a bottleneck on last year's 'Brother, Sinner and the Whale' album, Phelps is a fluent and affecting country blues musician. He's been known to use some unusual alternative tunings, but recently returned to his more traditional gospel roots: 'Brother, Sinner and the Whale' was partly inspired by the Book of Jonah.
