Born in Canada and based in Britain since the late-'50s, Wheeler learned his trade with Humphrey Lyttelton but has since defined the ambient soundscapes of the ECM label. His enduring capabilities now as a celebrated octogenarian– still sounding wonderful at 81 –has increasingly found a poetic sound in his masterful solos. Here for two nights he's joined by lyrical pianist Noble and young double bassist Di Biase for some deeply melodic modern chamber jazz.
