First of two nights celebrating five years of jazz at this intimate venue with a powerful folk-jazz inspired quartet led by last year's Mercury Prize nominated pianist Downes. He appears here alongside feisty Acoustic Ladyland bassist Goller, flautist Kalia, and drummer Sarkis on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern tinged originals. Saxophonist Adam Waldman's MOBO-nominated Kairos 4tet unleash more of their lunminous melodic jazz and brilliant composer/pianist Crowe also appears.
