Matthew Shipp/Evan Parker

First of two nights for iconoclastic NY free jazz pianist Shipp, here playing a concert with our own outer limits sax explorer Parker. Shipp's collaborations to date include the likes of Anti-Pop Consortium, Spring Heel Jack, DJ Spooky and Patti Smith, and he remains a hugely imaginative improvisor who draws on the rich heritage of Andrew Hill and Cecil Taylor while sounding like no one but himself. Expect quicksilver and dazzlingly dynamic interplay from these two improv masters.
