Matthew Shipp Trio

Music, Jazz
Exciting appearance from iconoclastic NY free jazz pianist Shipp, who's collaborated with the likes of Anti-Pop Consortium, Spring Heel Jack, DJ Spooky and Patti Smith. He's a hugely imaginative improviser who draws on the rich heritage of Andrew Hill and Cecil Taylor while sounding like no one but himself. He's joined here by his regular trio of Michael Bisio on bass and Whit Dickey on drums – a rare opportunity to catch this modern master at work.
