Coltrane's iconic pianist remains one of the few twentieth century voices to have developed his skills, with his rhythmic use of chord clusters and fiery modal runs a massive influence on contemporary jazz. Returning after his sold out shows here four years ago, his fire may have mellowed at age 77, but a new lyricism has emerged that's just as spellbinding. He's joined here by acerbic 'Trane-influenced altoist Bartz and a strong rhythm section of bassist Gerald Cannon and drummer Francisco Mela on the second of two nights.
