Seminal, late '80s post-punk/no-wave/experi-nise New Yorkers Swans – most famous for playing at a volume so extreme it's rumoured to have had punters spontaneously throwing up and emptying their bowels – curate this Mouth To Mouth festival. You can expect ruthlessly pummelling percussion, extreme guitar workouts and haunting, incantatory vocals from Michael Gira and his crew, who have a new triple album, 'The Seer'. Also on the stellar line-up, is Jonathan Donahue's Buffalo, NY crew Mercury Rev, performing with Donahue and fellow Rev-er Sean 'Grasshopper' Mackowiak's homemade 'tone generator', the Tettix Wave Accumulator. Plus Oakland, California's excellent experimentalist Jamie Stewart, aka the mastermind behind Xiu Xiu (pronounced 'shoe shoe'); and Portland's Liz Harris, whose Grouper project is a hauntological treat, like a one-woman Broadcast.
