Bristol-based PL pull off a damn fine blend of harmony-drenched country-meets-soul, not disimilar to Lambchop's sublime Curtis Mayfield-styled 'Nixon', yet with singer Yolanda Quartey's honeyed tones it's more Aretha-meets-Gillian Welch that get referenced. With a dynamite set of slow-burning songs this is musical soul food of the highest order.
