A reading of Susan Lund's new play on the 200th anniversary of Beethoven's 'Immortal Beloved' letter. It tells of Beethoven's illegitimate son by his Immortal Beloved brought up in Frankfurt by her husband while Beethoven in Vienna adopts his late brother's child. The composer writes the 'Missa Solemnis' to awaken his son's spiritual awareness after the four-year old boy is stricken with illness. The reading includes extracts from Beethoven's orchestral and chamber compositions, symphonies, quartets, piano sonatas, lieder; and the 'Missa Solemnis', which the composer called 'my greatest work.' (Susan Lund is the author of several books on Beethoven. (In aid of Helen & Douglas House for children and young people with life-shortening conditions.)
