Chuck D, Flavor Flav and co are back in the UK, for more revolutionary rhetoric and raucous, rabble-rousing rap. Their musical legacy can hardly be overstated: not only have they been a key influence on both mainstream and leftfield hip hop, but also on rock acts from Nirvana to Manic Street Preachers. True, their vitality has lessened as the years roll by (they’ve been in the game for over three decades now, and these days it probably wouldn’t take a nation of millions to hold them back) but they’re still able to thrill on stage.
