Music, Folk, country and blues
Polish punks update old peasant revolutionary songs across 'four centuries of misery, poverty and slavery' with vocals full of spit-flecked passion and fearsomely beautiful fiddle flourishes. Alas, you just don't hear titles like 'Lords Will Scythe Meadows By Themselves' from the mouths of British punks. If this opening gig is anything to go by, this year's Songlines Encounters Festival should be a doozy.
