C86 fans, rejoice. The British indie pop boom of the 1980s is getting a 'Nuggets'-style compilation this year: 'Scared to Get Happy', a five-disc box set put together by the Cherry Red label. To celebrate its release, ten of the surviving bands featured on the compilation are playing a showcase. So far the bill includes Morrissey-approved popsters The Primitives, Welsh jangle-pop heroes The Pooh Sticks (who reformed in 2010), Glaswegians BMX Bandits, and the Creation Records-affiliated June Brides. More acts TBA.
