Slaughtered Lamb

The content on this page is provided by a Time Out partner.

The Slaughtered Lamb’s expansive main room is centred on a busy bar counter, surrounded by mismatched tables and chairs, and the odd slouchy sofa. It’s a popular place, with punters queuing two deep.

The bar is large enough to accommodate an impressive array of taps (Paulaner, Camden Hells, Red Stripe, Directors, Bombardier, Erdinger, Sleeman Pale Ale); behind it, the fridges are packed with bottles of Pacifico, Brooklyn Lager and others.

The menu sticks to classic crowd-pleasers, as does the compact wine list. Old portraits and maps of Britain complete the decor, while downstairs a somewhat menacing, Masonic-looking red neon pentangle is the backdrop for gigs.

I visited the Slaughtered Lamb for a friends birthday and was pleasantly surprised. It's big and airy and perfect for groups. I've been back more recently for a few quieter drinks and enjoyed it. At the weekends it's perfect for a quiet drink, during the week it is much busier. I'd be keen to check out the music venue downstairs. A big plus in their favour, they serve a delicious Hollows & Fentimans ginger beer which I haven't been able to find anywhere else!!

So I frequented the Slaughtered Lamb for friends birthday party.

Positives:

Very large, open bar room. Dog friendly so great for owners with well behaved friendly dogs, quick and reasonable bar food, good range of beers, very open to bringing cake for a party, really relaxed and informal, can book an area and has a live music venue downstairs

Negatives:

Very busy and loud, not enough staff (when i was there), lack of staff means grumpy workers, Not good for non dog lovers, smells of beer and dog :-)

To be honest it was ok but just a bit rough around the edges. If you are looking for somewhere to accommodate a large group and you want to eat and drink and be merry this is a good spot.

We've been several times to this place for lunch. Today we were disgusted to see the bar staff playing with dogs when serving our food. Not going back.

Love this place! Been twice - once for drinks and to check out the venue. Just went last night to see a gig and it was great. The beer list is extensive and the food was also excellent and such a good value.

this place would have been cool if it did not have such bad rude and unprofessional staff
