Tammy Weis/Tom Cawley/BJ Cole/Al Cherry

Excellent Canadian singer exploring a fine body of standards and covers here performs songs from her recent album 'Place to Be' alongside a fine band featuring chill-inducing lapsteel guitar maestro Cole. Raising the bar with set of material that features her stiring folk/alt.contry-informed originals it's Weis' ability to find hidden depths within the Beatles' 'Help' that impresses most. A real gem of a vocalist.
