It might well be the most wonderful time of the year, but if there’s one section of the festivities that can end up a little stale it’s the music. All, what are there, twenty? Christmas songs on an eternal loop in the local Sainos, and that bloke in the pub who declares each and every year that ‘Fairytale of New York’ is the greatest thing ever written. Patience can be tested, that’s for sure.
Fortunately, there’s one show in the city that (quite literally) breathes life into those snow-dusted jingles: The Big Brassy Xmas Party. Taking place at the XOYO near Old Street for one night only, this is a Christmas knees-up that doesn’t disappoint. The tunes will all be Christmas classics but they’re being supplied by a ten-piece brass band called, wait for it, the Old Dirty Brasstards. So grab some mistletoe, dust off that prime Christmas jumper, and get ready to step into Christmas as though it’s your last Christmas. Oh yeah, it's 18+, just to warn you.
