Sarky Mark E Smith and his freaky bunch of post-punk renegades return to the capital
Few UK bands have carved a more inventive, original and fascinating path through music than Mark E Smith's enduring post-punk gang. Equally likely to be a shambolic disaster as an utterly compelling groove machine, they're known for changing line-up more often than the sharp-tongued, crumple-faced curmudgeon changes his socks. But the current incarnation – including two drummers – has been on great form, so assuming Smith doesn't fire everyone (aside from his wife, keyboardist Elenor Poulou) before the gig, they should set the air crackling.
