The Oriental Miscellany

An evening recital recreating William Hamilton Bird’s ‘The Oriental Miscellany’ (1789), an early musical encounter between the Indian sub-continent and the West. Featuring Persian and Urdu texts accompanied by the sarangi, tabla and tambura, with 'Hindustani airs' arranged for harpsichord and baroque flute.
