Van Dyke Parks was a trail-blazer for Americana long before the term was even coined, with his trio of albums, 'Song Cycle', 'Discover America' and 'Clang of the Yankee Reaper', but is perhaps best known for his work with The Beach Boys on 'Smile'. However, his own work ranges far and wide – across bluegrass, jazz, psychedelia, vaudeville, ragtime and even calypso – and he's worked as an arranger for countless big-name talents; Springsteen and Rufus Wainwright included. Here, he's joined by singers Pecknold (of Fleet Foxes) and Grizzly Bear's Rossen and the Britten Sinfonia in celebration of the reissue of those first three albums.
