It’s all well and good knowing the average rent for each London borough, but when you’re choosing somewhere to live, sometimes what you want is specifics. What if you could see exactly how much your rent was going to be based on which tube stop the property was closest to?

Now, you can do just that. The property experts at Barratt London have created an interactive map that shows how much dough you’d have to drop at every tube stop in London. Pretty useful stuff.

We can’t say the results are pretty, and they largely confirm the fact that most of us will never be renting or buying in central London, unless we marry a prince or for some reason come into a lot of money. London’s most spenny tube stop for renting was... Westminster, where the average monthly rent was a whopping £13,750. RIP to the bank accounts of SW1 residents.

Second on the list was Sloane Square in Chelsea, where it costs £11,960 a month to rent. All the toffs don’t live there for nothing. In third was Hyde Park Corner in the very bougie Knightsbridge where it costs an average £11,270 per month to rent. With these price tags, we’re not surprised that more than half the mansions in some of these exclusive postcodes are empty.

At the other end of the scale, Anerley was London’s cheapest tube stop for renting, where it costs an average £1,400 per month. This south east London neighbourhood was tied with Penge West and closely followed by Norwood Junction, where monthly rent costs £1,400 and £1,410 respectively. The most affordable tube stop to buy was Dagenham East, with an average house price of £344,000.
