Fifty years after HBO’s launch in the US, the home of The Sopranos, The Wire, Game of Thrones, Deadwood, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Succession is finally landing on these shores next week with the launch of HBO Max.
And to mark the occasion, an immersive HBO Max Experience is opening in Piccadilly Circus.
The pop-up will run for two days on Wednesday, March 25 and Thursday, March 26 and is free to attend for anyone 16 or older.
Over two floors at Piccadilly Lights, the experience will allow fans of show like Sex and the City, Game of Thrones and The Last of Us, as well as Superman and the Harry Potter films, to immerse themselves in props and life-sized sets over 6,500 square feet of floorspace.
Visitors will ‘check in’ at a replica of the White Lotus reception before getting the chance to wander Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment, sit in the Iron Throne room from House of the Dragon, grab snaps of the camp from The Last of Us, and explore the corridor of Hogwarts. Friends’ famous ‘pivot!’ sofa will be present and correct too.
On the other level, DC stans can explore a mock-up of Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, complete with dry ice, sound and lighting, props and 360° projection. In total, there will be 15 TV shows and movies represented.
And there’s a kitschy bonus for Friends fans: dancers will be performing the theme tune every hour around the orange sofa at Piccadilly fountain.
Tickets to the experience are free of charge and available from Eventbrite, with limited walk-ins also available on the day. You need to be 16 or older to book in.
