Sure, it might be a tad on the expensive side, but we can’t help but indulge in M&S every now and again – especially when it comes to its legendary picky-bits, Percy Pigs and Colin the Caterpillar.
The supermarket giant isn’t exactly short of locations in the capital, with over 100 M&S stores operating across London. But there’s good news for loyal shoppers in central London after the Bankside food hall officially reopened this week following an 11-week transformation.
And the new digs are pretty fancy. The store has a freshly refurbished food hall, and includes new offerings such as a swanky Mai Sushi bar, an expanded bakery (150 percent larger than before, to be exact), a wine shop and coffee-to-go counter, so commuters can grab a caffeine fix alongside their lunchtime sandwich. What more could you need under one roof?
Oh wait, there actually is more. The Bankside store also features a Click and Collect counter, a bigger home and cosmetics range and travel money services. All of this is available in a glowed-up shopping environment that spans an enormous 7,500-square-foot. Phew.
The transformed Bankside store is part of a wider revamp for M&S stores across the capital. Earlier this year, it announced plans to open four new supermarkets in London and give six stores (including Bankside) a refurb. This follows its announcement last year that they’d be opening a whopping 200 more stores across the Big Smoke.
Two of the new M&S stores have already opened; one on Mitcham Road in Tooting Broadway and another in a new location on Tottenham Court Road. Two more stores are planned for Sydenham (at Bell Green Retail Park) and Elephant and Castle (at The Elephant Development).
