This weekend, millions of people will gather to honour military personnel across Britain and the Commonwealth. There’ll be Remembrance Sunday parades, services and wreath-laying ceremonies happening all over the capital, but the biggest one of all will be the Cenotaph Remembrance Sunday March.
More than 10,000 people will take part in the parade down Whitehall, including members of the royal family, politicians, veterans and serving military personnel. Thousands of members of the public will also be there, paying their respects from the sidelines.
Of course, roads will need to be blocked off to allow for such a large occasion. Disruption will be minimal, though. The only road that will be closed to the public all day for the Cenotaph March is Great George Street. The public will be able to access Victoria Street and St James’s Park via Storey’s Gate instead.
If you’re travelling to Whitehall to watch the parade, keep in mind that surrounding tube stations are expected to get particularly busy before and after the service. There will also be some closures across the Overground and Underground to watch out for.
