Swim in a ball pit and eat free ice cream at Ben & Jerry’s fortieth birthday party

Ball pits are passé in London these days. You can dive into a multicoloured pool of plastic orbs pretty much every weekend if you please. But a chance to join a ball pit birthday party and resurface for a free scoop of ice cream? Now you’re talking.

This particular party is for two very familiar dudes, Ben & Jerry, who are celebrating 40 years in the ice-cream-making biz. Just so we don’t forget to send them a perfunctory ‘HBD, mate’ on Facebook, they’ve launched a new flavour: Ben & Jerry’s Birthday Cake, a pink-frosting, strawberry-swirl concoction with cake pieces mixed in. So why the ball pit? It’s all part of the B&J birthday bash. And so they can shift some tubs of the new flavour, of course.

Just don’t dig in before you dive in – nobody wants puke in the pit. Those things look hard enough to clean as it is.

Find Ben & Jerry’s Birthday Ball Pit at Old Spitalfields Market, 16 Horner Square, E1, Sat Mar 10 from 11am. Free entry.

Want to dive into a glow-in-the-dark ball pit instead? London has one of those too
