London City Airport – which was recently named London’s best flight hub by Which? – is about to get even better. The east London airport is launching (and bringing back) a load of European flight routes this winter to cities, winter sun locations and ski destinations.
From December 1 2025, London City Airport (LCY) will launch flights to Madrid that will operate 11 times per week. Each flight will be able to carry up to 106 passengers in a single-class layout.
As well as new flights to the Spanish capital, LCY will bring back its services to Innsbruck that will operate throughout the peak winter period. For ski bums, flights to Geneva in Switzerland and Chambery in France will return for the duration of the ski season (typically early December to mid-April).
For people hankering for a bit of winter sun (SAD is real, people) LCY has promised that its regular services to sunny locations San Sebastian and Ibiza will continue throughout the colder months. Phew.
‘We’re excited to expand our winter schedule with British Airways, offering even more options for passengers seeking city escapes, ski adventures, or winter sun,’ said Andrew Hodges, chief commercial officer at London City Airport. ‘The launch of Madrid and the return of popular ski routes are a clear response to growing demand for leisure travel from London City.
‘With existing capacity available, we’re actively in discussions with both new and existing airlines to broaden our network and unlock more destinations for our passengers.’
This is the worst London airport in 2025.
Plus: The major London travel hub that is officially the worst airport in the UK for delays.
