This Sunday (the second Sunday of November), tens of thousands of people will gather in the centre of London to commemorate all those who have served in the British and Commonwealth military, past and present.

Members of the Royal family, political leaders, faith communities and ex-servicemen and women will all be taking part in a parade and laying poppy wreaths at National War Memorial – aka the Cenotaph – on Whitehall, with the public invited to pay their respects from the sidelines.

If you’re planning to be in central London for the Cenotaph Remembrance Sunday March, here’s everything you need to know.

What time will the London Cenotaph Remembrance Sunday march start?

Royal British Legion detachments will form up on the Cenotaph at 10.30am and process out onto the Cenotaph at 10.50am before the national two minute silence at 11am.

Can the public attend the Cenotaph in Whitehall?

You have to be officially registered to march in the Cenotaph Parade, but members of the public are welcome to watch the ceremony from the pavements along Whitehall and Parliament Street.

There’ll also be screens broadcasting the parade to the north of the Cenotaph.

What’s the full route?

The parade first forms in columns on Horse Guard Parade then moves through Horse Guards Arch to form on Whitehall in time to see King Charles arriving at the Cenotaph.

It then proceeds down Whitehall, past the Cenotaph and turns onto Great George Street before finishing onto Horse Guards Road.

How to watch the Remembrance Day march on TV

The service will be broadcast on BBC One from 10.15am to 12.40pm.

Road closures and travel on Remembrance Sunday

Great George Street will be closed to the public all day. For access between Victoria Street and St James Park, go via Storey’s Gate.

Stations near the service will still be open but they’re expected to get particularly busy. You can find all the information on tube and train closures over the whole weekend here.
