1. Spend the evening with Imogen Hermes Gower, author of 'The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock', inspired by a real 'mermaid' at the British Museum, and historian Rachel Hewitt at Dulwich Books as they discuss the end of Enlightenment and the dramatic period at the tail end of the 1700s. The talk starts at 7pm and tickets start from £10.

2. Get your peepers on ceramics, glass metal, and woodwork and more obscure materials as 'Collect' the Craft Council's latest exhibition of contemporary crafts takes over all three floors of the Saatchi Gallery from today. See it from 10am, entry starts at £14.

3. As more people than ever before try to cut plastic out of their lives, see packaging created from ocean waste, plant-based materials and even edible packaging at 'Sustainable Packaging', an  exhibition, showcasing designs for sustainable alternatives. It opens at 10am today at the Museum of Brands, Packaging and Advertising. Entry is £9.
