[title]
The Afronauts is one of the most anticipated plays of the London winter season. The latest from Ryan Calais Cameron – who has scored major West End hits with For Black Boys… and Retrograde – it’s an account of one of the most unlikely participants in the global space race: Zambia’s.
Yes, the southern African country did nominally enter the space race, vying with the US and USSR to land a manned craft on the moon. The attempt was not a governmental one one, but rather the eccentric endeavour of teacher and provocateur Edward Nkoloso, whose exact levels of seriousness about the whole thing remain a matter of some debate – Cameron will surely have his view.
The play has an amazing cast, headed by big name Lucian Msamati as Edward, with support from some serious Black British and South African talent.
The run is largely sold out, but the Court has made a selection of £25 tickets for under-35s available, and we’ve teamed up with the theatre to help you buy them.
