It’s early June, which means that London’s most unique outdoor screening series Movies on the River is just about to start.

The capital’s only floating cinema on the Thames will set sail for the summer from next week, and on Thursday June 14 Movies on the River will thank everyone who buys a ticket to that night’s special launch screening by giving them what every thirsty outdoor film-goer craves – a free drink.

And what better movie to launch Movies on the River with than ‘The Shape of Water’?

Not only does the Oscar-winning film’s title have a certain watery ring to it, but the movie itself is a keeper: it stars Sally Hawkins as a Cold War-era lab worker who falls for a monstrous creature who is the result of a government experiment. It's an affecting and leftfield love story with design and photography to swoon at.

It’s the perfect movie to watch under the stars with the river lapping against the side of the boat. We’ll see you there.

This special launch screening of 'The Shape of Water' is at Movies on the River on Thursday June 14.

The boat boards at Tower Pier at 8pm. You can get tickets, and explore the rest of the lineup here.

'The Shape of Water' is available on digital download on June 11 and on Blu-ray and DVD on June 25.
