What is it?

The Clapham Grand has seen it all. Since opening in 1900, the whopping red brick building has been a music hall, cinema and bingo hall. Nowadays, it’s a bonafide variety palace, hosting gigs, club nights, stand-up, bingo and even sports screenings. The camp-as-they-come venue also specialises in LGBTQ+ events, with drag shows and cabarets being a key part of its programming.

Why go?

On top of its abundance of super fun events, the Clapham Grand has stunning red-and-gold interiors. It’s proper old-school theatre vibes.

Don’t miss:

The popular movie screenings, which include sing-alongs, dancers, confetti canons and balloon drops. In the past the Grand’s 25-foot HD screen has shown Mamma Mai, Labyrinth and Wicked

When to visit:

That depends on what you want to attend. Events at the Clapham Grand really do span everything, from themed club nights, to Bongo’s Bingo and Massaoke. Keep an eye on listings online

Ticket info:

Most of the Grand’s tickets are sold via Dice, and they don’t typically offer them on the door. Check the website for all up to date ticket information.

Time Out tip:

During major sporting events this old music hall puts on some of the vibiest screenings around. Keep an eye out for major football and rugby fixtures.

Bridget Jones's Diary Movie Night - Valentine's Special

We're not saying you can't bring a date to this kitschy Bridget Jones screening. But it sounds like it'll be a lot more fun with an assembled gang of single pals, who are primed to caterwaul along to 'All By Myself', drink wine through a straw, and shed a little tear when Mark Darcy says 'I like you very much as you are'. Interactive fun on offer here includes a Big Pants Dance Off, blue soup cocktails, novelty costume contests, and a dancefloor after with DJs spinning noughties classics. Popcorn, hot dogs and nachos are served throughout, to soak up all that vino.
