Time Out says

A fun karaoke night complete with a full gospel choir

Absolutely no prizes for guessing what this event is all about. That's right, it's a gospel music-focused karaoke night – 'think "Sister Act" meets a school assembly via "Top of the Pops",' say the organisers. The songs are chosen to really bring out those rich harmonies (Blur’s ‘Tender’, Mary Mary’s ‘Shackles (Praise You)’ and, erm, Bon Jovi’s ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’) so pick your soulful song to blast out and you'll be accompanied by 15-piece London urban choir Singology, who'll (probably) make your amateur whining sound positively delightful. There's also a big group singalong for maximum harmonies.

Top night out, kicking off with a drink or two in the wigwam on the roof top of this fab East London club. Descend to the basement bar and sing your heart out with the backing of a Gospel choir. Audience participation and brilliant MCs combine to make this a perfect post-work get together/ girls night out / sing a long fun. Highly recommended

This could only be made better if it was in Gospel Oak.

I know, karaoke is not for everyone- my husband despises it, thinks it's awkward, can't even watch it! But when I actually managed to drag him out to Hoxton square bar and kitchen (where Gospeloke holds its monthly residency), he LOVED every second because it's so, so different! so did I- but let's be fair, it wouldn't have taken a lot for me to enjoy myself at an event to get on stage and sing!

What more can anyone want than finding their inner diva in front of an actual gospel choir?! The room was a buzz with such an atmosphere that's super unique. There is absolutely no pressure to get up and sing and you will definitely have just the same amount of fun dancing around in the audience or cringing at the confessionals (well, it is a gospel night after all!)

For those that do want to sing, there's a great choice of songs- it took me forever to actually pick one and you can also choose to take part in a duet battle or a group number if getting up on your own to begin with is a bit too much for you!

Such a great night out for everyone: work dos, stag/hen, anything you can think of! YOU CAN BE A STAR WITH YOUR OWN CHOIR and maybe even get your own confetti canon after your performance- who doesn't want that?!

Okay I may be a little bit biased as I am part of Singology, the overarching choir that plays this gig, but I adore going to Gospeloke!!! The vibe is incredible - no matter where the show is, the atmosphere created by the choir and the vocal arrangements, combined with a cheering, swaying and super appreciative crowd, is just unbelievable. I love performing with this group, and I love singing along with a drink in my hand out on the dance floor. It is well worth it - you won't be disappointed!

Such a fun night out - karaoke where you have your own live backing singers...whats not to love?
