Time Out says

Please note, this venue is now closed. Time Out Music editors, June 2015.

2015 may turn out to be a great year in many respects, but the fact that it started with the sudden closure of iconic London club Plastic People doesn't bode well. The intimate Shoreditch basement venue acquired a loyal following over the years thanks to its seriously on-point programming and a killer soundsystem, making it a favourite haunt of many clubbers. Pretty much all bases were covered in the programming, from underground techno to UK bass to the eclectic sets at regular events hosted by jazz-house producer Floating Points and forward-thinking label Huntleys & Palmers. The relocation of seminal dubstep and grime night FWD>> – the long-standing jewel in PP's crown – to Dalston's Dance Tunnel in early 2013 may have been a blow to the club, but no-one really expected it to close, particularly not as suddenly as it did. The reasons behind the closure aren't yet known, but whatever they are, the announcment marks yet another irreconcilable blow to London's clubbing landscape. RIP Plastic People.
