A post-apocalyptic circus classic from The 7 Fingers

Great Canadian circus company The 7 Fingers bring their show 'Traces' at Sadler's Wells. The piece combines street and contemporary dance with theatre and acrobatics and takes place in a shelter after an unknown catastrophe. Expect Chinese pole, hoop tumbling, skateboarding and basketball and the like in a modern, up-beat circus spectacle.

I saw Traces twice when they were performing at Peacock Theatre three years ago and was truly impressed, so I booked tickets the moment I heard that they were coming back to town. Unfortunately, the new cast and choreography turned out to be a huge disappointment. The acrobats performing this year are nowhere near as talented as the previous cast, and there is a lot less awe, grace and energy on the stage. The previous show would get a standing ovation after every performance, whereas I only noticed a handful of people in the audience giving it this time. Chances are you will like them if you have not been to any other human circus before, but for the experienced eye, their performance is only mediocre.
