Wigmore Hall's Britten centenary celebration begins on what would have been the composer's ninety-ninth birthday.
Britten Sinfonia directed violinist Jacqueline Shave, with Alice Coote (mezzo-soprano), and conductor Richard Hetherington.
Purcell's Rondeau from 'Abdelazar Suite'; Purcell arr Muhly 'Let the night perish (Job's Curse)'; Purcell arr Stokowski 'Dido's Lament'; Tippett's A Lament from 'Divertimento on Sellinger's Round'; Handel's Arias from 'Alcina'; Britten's Prelude and Fugue, Op 29; Purcell arr Britten Chacony in G minor; Tippett's Little Music for Strings; and Britten's dramatic cantata 'Phaedra', Op 93.
