[title]
Dr Derek McCullough presents an entertaining lecture-recital, with ten musical interjections appropriate to the text. Much of the narrative is taken directly from Haydn’s 'Notebooks' and correspondence, in which he details his thoughts on subjects such as love, life, law, national debt and naval warfare.
The songs and instrumental music are by the Earl of Abingdon, George Jenkins, William Shield and, of course, predominantly Haydn himself. The performers are Emily Atkinson (soprano), Christopher Bowen (tenor), Jenny Thomas, flute, Ilana Cravitz, violin, and Ian Gammie, bass viol/ guitar.
