Christmas Concert: Mr Simpson's Little Consort and Cate McKee

The soprano Cate McKee, viol players Alison Crum, Sue Snell and Piers Snell and viol and lute player Roy Marks perform a selection of 'consort songs' for voice and viols, some with seasonal associations, interspersed with consort pieces from the Golden Age of English music.

Programme to include: Byrd's 'Out of the orient crystal skies', Fantasia 1 a4; 'Born is the babe' (Anon); Byrd's In Nomine 2 a4; 'Sweet was the song the Virgin sung' (Anon); Holborne's Pavan and galliard in G major; Gibbons's 'Ah dear heart'; 'In Nomine'; and 'Silver Swan'; Holborne's Pavan and galliard Paradizo and The Sighes; Ferrabosco's 'So beautie on the water stood, So so, leave off'; Gibbons's Fantasia 1 a4; and Cobbold's 'From a starre'.
