First Night of the Proms

The BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Chorus and BBC Singers under Jirí Belohlávek, with pianist Benjamin Grosvenor, soprano Hibla Gerzmava, mezzo-soprano Dagmar Pecková, tenor Stefan Vinke, bass Jan Martiník and organist David Goode. Judith Weir's 'Stars, Night, Music and Light' (BBC Commission, World Premiere); Brahms's Academic Festival Overture; Liszt's Piano Concerto No 2 in A; and Janácek's Glagolitic Mass. (Note: at 5.30pm there is a Proms Plus event at the Royal College of Music. Sean Rafferty and Petroc Trelawny present a special Proms edition of BBC Radio 3's 'In Tune', featuring artists and music from the season as well as highlights of the Proms Plus series. Then at 9.40pm there is a Proms Plus Late event in the Royal Albert Hall's Elgar Room featuring poetry and music from young artists.)
