Glamorous Night: A Celebration of Ivor Novello

The Hallé orchestra under Sir Mark Elder, with soprano Sophie Bevan, tenor Toby Spence and narrator Simon Callow celebrate the silent-movie actor, West End playwright, composer and star of a string of stage musicals very popular in their day. ('Crest of the Wave'); 'I Can Give You The Starlight', 'My Life Belongs To You' and 'My Dearest Dear' ('The Dancing Years'); 'Gay's The Word' (excerpts arr GL Zalva); 'Some Day My Heart Will Awake' and 'The Violin Began To Play' ('King's Rhapsody'); 'Shine Through My Dreams' ('Glamorous Night'); and 'Love Made The Song' ('Careless Rapture').
