The wind ensemble Harmoniemusik plays two baroque works – trio sonatas by J S Bach and Giuseppe Sammartini, one classical - a fine new arrangement by Ulf Guido Shaeffer for wind quintet of some wonderful arias from 'Cosí fan Tutte', and three works from the twentieth century – Stravinsky’s ground-breaking Three Pieces for solo clarinet – four numbers from Walton’s ever popular 'Façade Suite', and finally Jim Parker’s 'Mississippi Five', an original take on American blues and popular music of the early twentieth century crafted with enormous skill and panache for five wind players.
