The Philharmonia Orchestra under up-and-coming Czech talent Jakub Hrusa. He conducts two works from his homeland: Smetana's 'Sárka', from the composer's cycle of pieces evoking Czech legend, history and landscape, 'Má Vlast'; and Dvorák's joyful Symphony No 8. Also on the programme is Bruch's Violin Concerto No 1 in G minor, featuring soloist James Ehnes, who describes the piece as 'one of my favourites: I've never got tired of this piece, it's like coming back to visit an old friend every time I play it.'
