Met Opera Live in HD returns for the 2012-13 season, featuring 12 new transmissions streamed live via satellite in high definition from The Metropolitan Opera, New York. It can be viewed at 22 London cinemas – see web address for details.

In his Met company debut, Thomas Adès conducts the Met premiere of his widely praised opera, 'The Tempest'. Directed by Robert Lepage, this innovative production recreates the interior of the La Scala opera house as the magical island venue for the otherworldly arts of Prospero, the exiled Duke of Milan.

Reprising his critically acclaimed role, Simon Keenlyside sings Prospero, the scheming Duke who attempts to restore his daughter, Miranda (Isabel Leonard) to her rightful place.

The cast also includes Toby Spence, Audrey Luna, Iestyn Davies, Alek Shrader, Alan Oke and William Burden.

(The upcoming season has an impressive line up including a new production of Verdi's Un Ballo in Maschera (8 Dec 12) directed by David Alden, the Met premiere of Donizetti's Maria Stuarda (19 Jan 13) starring Joyce DiDonato in the title role and Handel's Giulio Cesare (27 Apr 13) starring Natalie Dessay as Cleopatra.)
