The Kreutzer Quartet plays Beethoven's C major String Quintet, Op 29, one of his most radiantly beautiful and dramatic works, yet rarely programmed. It is played next to the almost unknown original version of his Op 87 Wind Trio, which was originally scored for two violins and viola. Plus, Beethoven at his most forthright, his Op 95 String Quartet ('Serioso'). Plus, Nicola LeFanu's Third String Quartet (world premiere). (Note: a pre-concert talk: Peter Sheppard in conversation with composer Nicola LeFanu.)
