The BBC Proms gets underway with a single work, Elgar’s oratorio 'The Kingdom'. Sir Andrew Davis conducts the BBC Symphony Orchestra, BBC National Chorus of Wales and BBC Symphony Chorus, with soprano Erin Wall (Blessed Virgin), mezzo-soprano Catherine Wyn-Rogers (Mary Magdalene), tenor Andrew Staples (St John) and baritone Christopher Purves (St Peter).
