Rachmaninov

Gianandrea Noseda conducts the BBC Philharmonic and the Chorus of the Mariinsky Theatre, with soprano Svetla Vassileva, tenor Misha Didyk and bass Alexei Tanovitski. Rachmaninov's 'Spring'; 'Aleko' – Women's and Men's Dances; Three Russian Songs; Vocalise; and 'The Bells'. (Note: at 1pm and 5.15pm there are Proms Plus events at the Royal College of Music. At 1pm amateur singers are invited to sing some of Rachmaninov's choral music. Then, at 5.15pm, Sarah Walker explores Rachmaninov's colourful choral works with recorded extracts and with live music examples from members of the BBC Philharmonic.
