The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under Owain Arwel Hughes,with pianist Eldar Nebolsin, performs the Overture to 'The Bartered Bride', Smetana's comic opera about love and commerce; Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor – a work modelled on the piano concerto of Schumann and coloured by Norwegian folk music; and Orff's 'Carmina Burana', featuring Elin Manahan Thomas (soprano), Stephen Wallace (tenor) and bass-baritone Leigh Melrose.
