The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, under conductor Grzegorz Nowak, with pianist Freddy Kempf, performs four Tchaikovsky greats: 'Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture'; Piano Concerto No 1 – one of the best-known Romantic piano concertos; 'Marche Slave', written during the war between Turkey and Serbia and first played at a concert given for the benefit of the wounded; and what is possibly Tchaikovsky's most famous work of all, the '1812 Overture' with a fireworks finale.
